I have an 84 Honda Prelude whit 310,000 miles. It seems to quit soon after startup, revs to 2300 rpm but then dies within 15 seconds. However it runs well when warmed up.
What would be the symptoms if I have a bad fuel system?
If the engine is carbureted, that sounds like the component to start with. The easiest thing to try is spraying Berryman B-12 CHEMTOOL CARBURETOR, CHOKE & THROTTLE BODY CLEANER (part #0117 & 0120 or #0117C & 0120C) into the carburetor while the car is running. If that doesn’t work, you can purchase a can of Berryman B-60 HIGH MILEAGE FUEL SYSTEM REJUVENATOR (part #7516) from Amazon add that at your next fill-up. If neither of those work for you, you might need the car looked at by a professional mechanic.
