Aluminum, aluminum/zinc alloys, and pot metal components are susceptible to chemical attack if soaked for too long. “Too long” can vary greatly—from several hours to several days—so we say to limit dwell times to 4 hours total. The extended soak time may be the reason you’re seeing a precipitate in the bottom of the can and on the jets.
