Have a Variable Valve Timing engine and it clacks after deceleration for a few seconds. I can get the noise to go away temporarily using Seafoam in the oil. The noise returns later (possibly after the product evaporates). Do you have any suggestions?

Try a can of Berryman OIL CHANGE FLUSH (part #1216) immediately before your next oil and filter change. If 1216 doesn't cure the sound, you may have use Berryman B-12 CHEMTOOL FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER (part #0116) in your COLD engine oil at a rate of 1½-2 fl oz/quart of capacity. For instance, if your engine holds 5 quarts of oil, then you'd add 7½-10 fl oz of 0116 to the engine oil. Then run the engine until hot (about 10-15 minutes) and change the oil and filter.
03 F150 5.4L used in gas fuel Chem B12 mixture for smoother running higher Mpg s.
But Can (6oz in a 6qt eng) be used in my Oil for carbon and sludge clean out right before each oil change.
I just did this 2weeks ago and drove straight 15min to my oil lube center and it's so clean my valve covers started leaking to my surprse. I have an older ford Trinitron 150k mile engine. Going to replace gaskets this weekend.
But Is it better not to add to older engines m like my SOHC 5.4L?
Thanks for your reply.
