The Importance of Fuel Additives

Fuel Additives…

You’ve probably heard of them, but have you ever used them?
Or, m
aybe you’re still skeptical about their functionality?

Let’s clear the air and talk about how they work and when they can be extremely useful.

The Importance of Fuel Additives

There are 2 Types: Fuel Stabilizers and Fuel Performance Enhancers

It is known that both stabilizers and performance enhancers are made from a mix of cleaning substances to help improve the engine performance.

Purpose is the main difference between the two — which all depends on the age, mileage and use of your vehicle.

Fuel savers, another term for fuel stabilizers, are typically used in older vehicles that sit for weeks at a time… whereas fuel performance enhancers are meant for cars that are driven often.

> Fuel stabilizers work to stabilize the fuel in the tank, to ensure it doesn’t go bad over time.

> Fuel performance enhancers help improve the engines performance, emissions, and economy.

There are multiple types of fuel performance enhancers, such as gas mileage enhancers, fuel system cleaners, fuel injector cleaners, and carburetor cleaners.

Finding the best additive for your vehicle depends on your vehicle’s mileage, engine condition, usage, age, and efficiency.

Take a quick look at the many fuel additives we carry, for instance.

High Mileage Vehicles

For an older vehicle, with high mileage (over 60,000 miles) and lots of wear and tear, our Berryman® B-60 High Mileage Fuel System Rejuvenator, is a perfect fit! It thoroughly cleans the entire fuel system of all high mileage gas-powered vehicles. This includes those exceeding 60,000 miles.

Powerful detergents and H.E.S.T. solvents give one-tank clean-up of fuel injectors, intake valves, carburetors, and combustion chambers. Our B-60 product dissolves fuel residue and carbon deposits to restore lost power, reduce rough idle and hesitation, restore octane requirements, and improve overall drivability. It also improves fuel economy, disperses moisture, and stabilizes gasoline!

Fuel Systems Needing a Clean-out

In regards to vehicles with less than 60,000 miles — whose fuel systems have not been regularly cleaned — we recommend using our Berryman® B-12 Chemtool® Total Fuel System Clean-Up.

Our Chemtool uses H.E.S.T. and powerful detergents to maximize one-tank clean-up of intake valves, fuel injectors, carburetors, and combustion chambers. It dissolves gum, varnish, and carbon deposits in the entire fuel system to help restore lost power, and peak performance. It also improves starting, drivability, gas mileage, and injector life.

Regular Maintenance

Now for prevention, we recommend regular use of our Berryman® B-12 Chemtool® Carburetor, Fuel System and Injector Cleaner which quickly disburses moisture and dissolves gum, varnish, and other fuel residues from the entire fuel system, fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel injectors, valves, rings, and pistons with H.E.S.T. Regular use ensures higher compression, fewer repairs, lower operating costs, and increased spark plug and injector life.

Diesel Fuel Additives

And if you that run and operate diesel trucks, machinery, and other equipment, we haven’t forgotten about you! Berryman has three different diesel fuel additives, our Berryman® Diesel Injector Cleaner, our Berryman® All Season Diesel Fuel Treatment and our Berryman® Diesel Cetane Booster.

All three of these products used together will help your diesel vehicles run longer, quieter, smoother, maximize fuel economy, and reduce regular maintenance costs.

What happens if I decide not to use fuel additives?
As a result of the combustion process, carbon is deposited into all parts of the engine, like fuel injectors, carburetors, intake and exhaust valves. This can cause problems such as, hard starting, terrible fuel economy, and misfiring. When you use fuel additives such as our fuel injector cleaner or our carburetor cleaner total engine tune up additive, it removes these carbon-deposits promoting better air flow which in turn will give you better performance and fuel economy. It can also lead to your vehicle not passing emission standards and for that issue we recommend using our Berryman® Emissions Pass Protection, which has a money back guarantee that your vehicle will pass!

Why it’s so important to use fuel additives:

1. Fuel additives have a lot of positive effects on your vehicle. Not only do they keep your vehicle maintained in great condition, but they help with fuel economy, engine performance, engine cleanliness, and efficiency. If you’re anything like us and enjoy keeping your vehicle well-maintained, both inside and out, then fuel additives are going to be your new friend.

2. Although it’s partly true that fuel additives are already added into our gasoline, they are often diluted and not potent enough to be truly effective. Overall, the “already included” fuel additives won’t help with the lasting performance of the vehicle. Let your friends know that this is just a common misconception!

Skepticism

Still unsure about fuel additives and whether or not they actually work?

Although we do recommend using fuel additives, we also recommend doing your own research before purchasing. There are numerous faulty companies that will make untrue claims about their fuel additives and you do not want to end up harming your vehicle’s system with defective products.

Our Berryman fuel additives have been around for 100+ years; we have a proven track record and endless reviews from customers that know and trust our products.
